Differences between accuracy and confidence

The accuracy of the results from IP intelligence are going to vary hugely based on the network that the IP address is associated with. With residential or retail IP addresses, the accuracy could be very, very good indeed. You get a very small geographic area that we are highly confident in. Likewise, for a cellular network, where the same group of IP addresses are being used across an entire country, the result we could also have confidence in, but it could be a large geographic area. And then there's VPNs. Where you might actually find the IP address is being used in many, many different countries in many different locations. That's why with 51Degrees we treat accuracy and confidence as two different things. Find out more on the website and then contact us to get started.
