When it comes to device detection on the open web, we have to treat Apple in a world of their own. Apple are obsessive about privacy, but that's a whole other subject. What they actually do is make it really, really hard for device detection companies to do their job. So when it comes Apple device detection, we need to use JavaScript as well as the HTTP headers in order to work out what's going on. 51Degrees provide a custom piece of JavaScript that could change daily, even weekly, in order to deal with the ever-changing landscape of Apple. This only gets run on Apple devices, and it provides us a little bit more information than we get from the HTTP headers alone in order to resolve the Apple model and other characteristics about Apple. But also when this JavaScript runs, we can confirm that the Apple device is the same as the ones that we tested with. This enables us to also provide an additional property called is verified. To find out more, read the documentation on the website and then contact us to get started.
