51Degrees launches version 4.5 of Device Detection and introduces IP Intelligence.
We are pleased to announce the release of version 4.5 of the 51Degrees API.
This update improves the performance of our existing Device Detection service while also introducing IP Intelligence as a new capability.
This post highlights the key updates and improvements included in version 4.5.
What’s new in Device Detection version 4.5
Let's take a closer look at how version 4.5 improves 51Degrees' Device Detection service.
Unified graph selection
Previous versions of 51Degrees Device Detection allowed multiple graph modes to be configured. Version 4.5 simplifies this by using a single, unified detection path. This reduces configuration choices and ensures consistent behavior across deployments.
Faster property retrieval
A new configuration option in version 4.5 allows property values to be indexed when the engine starts. This improves retrieval speed, particularly for applications that request many properties per detection. It leads to smoother performance in busy or large-scale environments.
New evidence keys for User-Agent Client Hints
As more browsers adopt User-Agent Client Hints, version 4.5 adds additional evidence keys that allow these values to be supplied in different formats. This provides greater flexibility for developers who collect high entropy or structured hints through client side code or existing infrastructure.
Improved results serialization
This release also refines how detection results are serialized. The updated approach makes it easier to pass results between services, store them, or use them across distributed systems.
Introducing IP Intelligence
Version 4.5 includes the first release of the 51Degrees IP Intelligence service. It delivers useful information derived from an IP address, as well as our level of confidence in the information returned, and is designed to support a wide range of real time use cases.
Network data
The engine provides information such as ISP, organization and connection type. These attributes help classify traffic and support security, analytics and content delivery decisions.
Location data
The service includes location information such as country, region and city. This helps with localization, compliance workflows and traffic quality analysis.
Ultra low latency
The IP Intelligence service is designed to operate with very low latency. It is suitable for real time environments such as programmatic advertising, authentication and dynamic content systems.
Flexible deployment
IP Intelligence can be used on-premise for maximum control and data privacy. It can also be accessed through the cloud API for fast global availability and minimal operational overhead. This flexibility allows our IP Intelligence service to fit a wide range of architectures.
