WileyFox a New British Smartphone Manufacturer

In this week’s blog we are going to take a look at a new Smartphone manufacture called WileyFox. They are based in London and use a unique purchasing method as they purposefully are not available on a contract. You have to buy their sim free phones and get a separate sim contract. The idea behind this is to stop people getting stuck in two year contracts with the same phone which is not beneficial to smartphone manufacturers or the consumer. They also claim to make savings by cutting out unnecessary expenses, which could explain their decision to use cyanogen mod as there operating system. This means that unlike most large phone manufacturers, they don't have the development cost of creating a UI on top of android, saving them money and making their phones cheaper. So far, they have released two phones, the Swift and Storm which we will take a look at now.

WileyFox Swift

The WileyFox Swift was their first smartphone and was released in September this year. The Swift is aimed to compete with the Moto G price range devices and is competitively priced at $200. It also has an impressive specification for this money; it has a 5inch 1280 x 720 with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, this is powered by a 64 bit quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 with 2048 MB of RAM. It also has 16GB of ROM which is expandable by micro SD card, 13MP rear and 5 MP front camera and Dual SIM card slot with 4G LTE.

WileyFox Storm

The WileyFox Storm is their current flagship device and will currently cost you $300, and with this increase in price you get a big increase in specs. It has a 5.5 inch, 1920 x 1080 ips display, this is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 with 3072MB of RAM. It also has an improved camera of 20MP Sony sensor as a rear camera and an 8MP front facing camera with flash for low light selfies. It has 32GB of ROM which is expandable by 128GB using a micro SD card, it also has dual sim card slots and 4G LTE connectivity.
