Blackberry Android Device Data

This new device was already added to the 51Degrees database

Last week our data team added the PRIV BlackBerry into our database. It is the first-ever BlackBerry smartphone to run on Android. According to the manufacturer, this new device brings incredible new features to the Android platform that make sharing ideas and connecting with people faster and easier.

One of the very important advantages of this device is the BlackBerry Hub app which brings all of the communications into one place. It offers a simple way to connect to the network, allowing the user to see and prioritise all messages at a glance, whether it's email, SMS, calendar, phone calls or social media.

As to form and function, PRIV has dual curved screen, 5.4” of diagonal screen, touch-enabled physical keyboard with SmartSlide, 3410 mAh of battery offering around 22.5 hours of mixed use, hot-swappable MicroSD slot (up to 2TB) and a camera of 18MP with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and Dual Flash.

Another important useful function offered by BlackBerry is DTEK, a warning system application which monitors overall security by rating and suggesting action. Blackberry takes different steps to keep the privacy safe and maintain the security of the device. Examples of this are, verifying the integrity of the Android OS every time the device boots up, keeping the data private encrypted by default, controlling what is shared and with whom, thus combining security strength with ease of use.

Additionally, the freedom to choose between a virtual keyboard or a physical keyboard comes standard with every PRIV by BlackBerry. The user can also snap the slider open to gain back screen space and reveal a full physical keyboard or move a thumb across the touch sensitive keys for scrolling and fine cursor control as if it were a track pad. The buttons can also be programmed to launch customizable shortcuts.
