LG Lancet

The LG Lancet is a phone that has been a long time coming as Microsoft announced that LG would make a Windows phone 8.1 device back in 2014 and here it is freshly added to our database. The LG Lancet uses a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 clocked at 1.2 GHz paired with 1024 MB of RAM which should give snappy performance at a low cost. It has an 8 mega pixel autofocus rear camera with HD recording capability and a 0.3 Megapixel front facing camera for selfies and skype calls. It has a relatively small 4.5” screen but will make it a more pocket friendly smart phone, the resolution of the screen though is low at just 480 x 854 pixels. However when you account for it being only $120 at launch, it makes for a very good budget smart phone and very competitive with Microsoft’s own Lumia 530 and Lumia 630 phones.

Microsoft Lumia 640

Microsoft have also released a new phone the Lumia 640. The Lumia 640 is a midrange smart phone that comes bundled with a year of Office 365 and has good Microsoft product integration making it a great option for people wanting to be more productive on the move. The internals are very similar to the LG Lancet and it runs on a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 clocked at 1.2 Ghz and is also paired with 1024 MB of RAM. The big difference between the two though is the 5” 720p IPS screen and making for a much more enjoyable browsing experience on the phone.

iconBIT Toucan Stick 3D Pro

Our database includes all kinds of different internet enabled devices and not just your standard phones and tablets that we mainly feature in this blog. Last week we added the iconBIT Toucan Stick 3D Pro. The Toucan stick is a mini Android PC in the form factor of a large USB stick but instead of male USB it has hdmi and plugs into your TV or monitor. Inside the small form factor of the Toucan Stick is an ARM Dual core Cortex-A8 and a Mali-400 MP2 with 1024 MB of RAM. This allows full HD video output, and with it running Android it allows you to have your favourite media apps, that are easily accessed using the simple remote control making it the perfect streaming device for your living room.
