Looking at the HTC One A9

HTC making a comeback into the Smartphone Market?

This week we will be looking at the new HTC One A9, released earlier this month.

My first impression is that is looks very similar to the iPhone 6S. The curved design is unlike other HTC devices; combine this with the button layout and the cosmetics are close to that of the iPhone. This design change however does not come without compromises. The curved design and slim phone gives less room for the battery. With only a 2150mAh battery, battery life may be an issue. It does however come with the newest Android OS, Marshmallow, which has an improved efficiency over previous versions that may help balance this out.

Underneath the hood, the phone comes with 2 quad-core cortex-A53 processors, running at 1.5 GHz and 1.2 GHz, certainly enough power to comfortably run most processes quickly. It has two models of the phone dependant on region. The US has a decent 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM, whilst the UK version only has 2GB RAM and a 16GB ROM. This is not however reflected in the price, with the UK model actually costing more than the US model, ($650 and $499 respectively). This may price itself out of the UK market, however it is definitely good value for money in the US.

The phone also comes with a 5” AMOLED display which is increasingly becoming an industry standard for modern smartphones. It also has a decent resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels which allows for HD streaming and videos to be played with crystal clear quality. On top of this is also a host of other features such as a finger print sensor, Quick Charge 3.0 and a 13MP camera.
