51Degrees.mobi Search for the Heaviest Website and Share to Win Terms and Conditions

The Competition

Upon registering at http://51degrees.mobi/Competitions/HeaviestWebsite2013 and providing a domain name through the required entry form, entrants will be automatically entered into a competition. Entry is completely free and the first person who enters the domain name of the website deemed to be the heaviest will win $1000 USD.

Any person who enters the Competition will also be able to share their personal Competition link; when another person uses this link to enter the Competition the original entrant whose personal link was used will also be entered into a Free Prize Draw to win $300 USD.

The Promoter

The Promoter is 51Degrees.mobi limited, 5 Charlotte Close, Reading, Berkshire, RG4 7BY.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The Competition is open to any person aged 16 years or older who submits a compliant entry before midnight on 15 September 2013. Entries submitted after this time will not be accepted.

  2. Any person who is, or is a family member of, an employee, officer, director, agent or representative of the Promoter or its associated companies or companies responsible for sponsoring, advertising or fulfilling the Competition, is not eligible to take part in the Competition. Entries received from any person associated with the submitted domain name will be void.

  3. The Promoter reserves the right at any time to require participants in the Promotion to provide proof of identity. If a participant is unable to provide such evidence, the Promoter, at its discretion, may exclude that participant from taking part in the Competition.

  4. The Competition is only available through the 51Degrees.mobi website by registering and completing the entry form found at http://51degrees.mobi/Competitions/HeaviestWebsite2013. Entrants are only allowed to enter the Competition three times; any further entries will be void.

  5. Entrants must remain registered to the 51Degrees.mobi website during the competition period. If an entrant removes their registration, they will be withdrawn from the competition.

  6. Domains entered on the entry form must be within the top 400,000 Alexa traffic rank, details of which can be found by visiting http://www.alexa.com. After the Competition closes the relevant domain names submitted will be shortlisted by the Promoter at its discretion and these will be tested. The size of the website will be determined by testing the total uncompressed responses received within the first 10 seconds when a mobile device first visits the domain.

  7. Domains entered on the entry form must have been created and published before the competition starting date. Any domain entered that has been created after the competition starting date will be disqualified.

  8. For all the short listed domains the domain will be entered into the browsers address bar. After 10 seconds has elapsed the total number of uncompressed bytes returned will be calculated. The person entering the domain with the greatest number of uncompressed bytes returned will win. If the winning domain has been entered multiple times, the person to have entered the domain first will constitute as the winner. If there are multiple domains equalling the largest uncompressed page weight, a winner will be selected at random from the entries sharing the largest uncompressed page weight.

  9. All tests will be performed using an Android device running the Chrome Mobile browser connected to a WiFi broadband internet connection. The browsers cache will be cleared prior to the domain being entered into the browser.

  10. The winner will be determined on 28th September and will be notified by email or twitter. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within seven (7) days of notification, the Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and offer the second place entrant the prize.

  11. The Competition prize is $1000 and is not transferable. The Promoter will provide the prize by bank transfer to a valid bank account provided by the winner. Other financial transfer systems such as PayPal cannot be used for receipt of the prize.

  12. Entry to the Free Prize Draw requires entry to the Competition and for the entrant to share the Competition link via social media or direct linking. Once an entry to the competition has been submitted, the Promoter will provide the entrant with a personal link to share with other people.

  13. When another person uses the personal link successfully to enter the Competition the entrant will be entered into the Free Prize Draw.

  14. An entrant may share their personal link as many times as they wish, however this will not increase their chance of winning.

  15. After the 15th September the Promoter will select the winner at random from all eligible entries. The winner of the Free Prize Draw will be notified by email or twitter within seven (7) days of the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within five (5) days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and randomly select a replacement winner from the pool of non-winning, correct entries.

  16. The Free Prize Draw prize is $300 and is not transferable. The Promoter will provide the prize by bank transfer to a valid bank account provided by the winner. Other financial transfer systems such as PayPal cannot be used for receipt of the prize

  17. By entering the Competition, entrants indicate their knowledge and acceptance of the nature and limitations of using the internet, particularly where technical issues are concerned, such as the risk of service interruptions and, more generally, the risks inherent in any connection or data transfer made using the internet, the absence of security protection against interception by third parties for certain data, and the risk of infection by viruses.

  18. The Promoter is not liable for the following: - data transmission via the internet; suboptimal operation or failure of the internet and/or the software used; the consequences of viruses, bugs, anomalies, technical failures; and the technical failure of software or hardware of any kind.

This also applies to any direct or indirect damage which may result from making an internet connection with the Promoter’s website. Each participant must take all appropriate measures to ensure the security of his or her own data and/or the software on his or her web-enabled hardware, and is responsible for securing his or her site against attacks of any kind.

  20. The Promoter is not liable for any damage caused by changing the terms of the promotion, or if the promotion is terminated prematurely or cancelled as a result of exceptional circumstances or for reasons beyond the Promoter’s control.

  21. The winners agree to the use of their name and image in any publicity material.

  22. All personal data provided by the entrant will be processed in accordance with Data Protection requirements. The Promoter reserves the right to use the entrant’s personal data in order to send postal or email marketing about the Promoter’s products or that of its associated companies. If entrants do not wish for their personal data to be used for either of these purposes they can choose to opt-out.

  23. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition and the Terms and Conditions or to change any of the published dates without prior notice.

  24. The Promoter reserves the right to investigate whether the Terms and Conditions have been respected and to exclude any participant who is found to be in contravention of the Terms and Conditions.

  25. Any attempts at fraudulent participation will result in the immediate exclusion of the entrant in question. In the event of irregularities the Promoter will decide how these errors shall be dealt with and rectified. Printing errors, spelling errors, typographical errors and all other such errors cannot be used as grounds for damage claims or any other liability claims against the Promoter.

  26. The Promoter will decide how to deal with any legal restrictions, unforeseen and unintended circumstances. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into about its decisions.
